Arbaʿīn 1448 at the Centreمراسم اربعین ۱۴۴۸

Arbaʿīn is the fortieth day of mourning for Imam Husayn, when millions walk to Karbala. This year, mawkib tents, the tents that feed and shelter pilgrims on the road, stood for three nights in the Centre's forecourt on Bayview Avenue, and we held our Arbaʿīn programs beside them. هر سال میلیون‌ها زائر برای اربعین راهی کربلا می‌شوند. امسال موکب‌های اربعین سه شب در محوطهٔ مرکز برپا شد و مراسم اربعین را در کنار همین موکب‌ها برگزار کردیم.

On the road to Karbala, a mawkib is a tent that feeds and shelters the walkers. Each night held the same programme: Qur’an, Ziyārat Arbaʿīn, duʿā and munājāt, a lecture, congregational prayer, azadari, and food from the tents. برنامهٔ هر سه شب یکی بود: قرائت قرآن، زیارت اربعین، دعا و مناجات، سخنرانی، نماز جماعت، عزاداری و پذیرایی.

The first nightشب اول

Mosques, Islamic centres, heyats, organizations and families each set up a tent in the Centre's forecourt and served food through the evening. Despite the rain, the tents stayed up and the program continued outdoors. مساجد، مراکز اسلامی، هیئت‌ها، سازمان‌ها و خانواده‌ها هر کدام چادر خود را در محوطهٔ مرکز برپا کردند و تمام شب پذیرایی کردند. با وجود بارندگی، چادرها برپا ماند و برنامه در فضای باز ادامه یافت.

The second nightشب دوم

Monday was meant to be an ordinary indoor programme at 7:45. Instead the tents stayed up, and the evening began outdoors again at 6:30. قرار بود برنامهٔ دوشنبه طبق معمول داخل ساختمان و ساعت ۷:۴۵ باشد، اما چادرها برپا ماند و شب دوم هم ساعت ۶:۳۰ در فضای باز شروع شد.

After the turnout on the first night, and with more rain in the forecast, the outdoor program was extended for a second night. The announcement encouraged everyone to bring a chair and an umbrella, and an updated poster went out marking the extension. پس از استقبال از شب اول و با پیش‌بینی باران، برنامهٔ فضای باز یک شب دیگر تمدید شد. در اطلاعیه از شرکت‌کنندگان خواسته شد در صورت نیاز صندلی و چتر همراه بیاورند و پوستر برنامه با اعلام تمدید دوباره منتشر شد.

Arbaʿīn itselfروز اربعین

The fortieth day itself, and the last of the three nights. We came back indoors for Qur’an, Ziyārat ʿĀshūrāʾ, Ziyārat Arbaʿīn, a lecture, congregational prayer, and azadari. شب پایانی را، هم‌زمان با روز اربعین، داخل ساختمان برگزار کردیم: قرآن، زیارت عاشورا و زیارت اربعین، سخنرانی، نماز جماعت و عزاداری.
